The organic potato market is experiencing an upturn towards the end of the storage season. There has been information and interest for a long time, but now there is a place for every party. This is partly due to the lower supply of potatoes from abroad. The conventional market also has an influence.

A place for every party
If you compare sales with previous months, you can say that the organic potato market is doing like a charm. The supply from abroad is disappointing and therefore more organic potatoes from our own soil are needed. Volumes are also being exported to European countries, while the pace was previously at a very low level.

There is a suitable destination for every party. Much has also disappeared into the usual channel during the storage season, which means that there are now no lots hanging over the open market. There is also a destination for batches with a story or lower quality, whether or not for the usual table or chip market. However, the prices are lower. The relationship between supply and demand now looks quite different than earlier this season. This development also has an increasing effect on the market price. The DCA Indicative Price of organic potatoes increases by €2 per 100 kilos and amounts to €35 to €41 per 100 kilos.

Organic onions
The storage season for organic onions is coming to an end. The volumes that are processed have mainly been fixed earlier this season. The import of organic onions from abroad also accounts for a large part of the total sales on the market. This results in few transactions and makes clear listing of organic onions difficult. Because the storage season is coming to an end and the supply is still limited, more can be caught for the last onions. However, it remains a matter of guessing how many tons these last batches are. Based on very few transactions, the DCA Indication Price remains the same and amounts to €68 per 100 kilos for both coarse and fine size grading.
