Due to the wet weather, it has been the same story with the (organic) carrot harvest for weeks. It's going slowly, but little by little, with some hard work, something is being harvested. Especially last week, things seemed to be going well on some plots. But that's only half the story. The structure is being torn to pieces; Much of what is cleared is spread and a lot of soil comes with it. In addition, concerns about quality are increasing among growers and rinsers. This is because of the large amount of water, as can be seen from parties that recently left the land.

The supply remains somewhat limited and that, together with unrest about the harvest, has resulted in a small increase in the price this week. The DCA Indication Price for organic carrots increased slightly this week and averaged €28 per 100 kilos.

Organic potato market
The persistent rainfall also affects the price of organic table potatoes. According to insiders, a small part still needs to be cleared, although it is not clear exactly how much. In addition, the difference in price is large between the parties. The lower quality lots that were harvested under wet conditions sometimes sell for less than half the money of the 'normal' lots.

Sales are continuing smoothly and these weeks are certainly not special. This is not necessary given the time of year. Growers but also processors have confidence in the further course of the season, both in the Netherlands and for export. Growers, in turn, are not interested in taking their good product out of storage now. The DCA Indication Price for organic table potatoes increases compared to last week and amounts to €47 to €50 per 60 kilos in week 100. "There may even be a six as the first number, depending on the variety and quality," says an insider. The spread is very large and depends very much on the party. In addition, the type of sales market also has an influence.

Major differences in the organic onion market
The organic onion market is moving along quietly and sales have hardly changed compared to other weeks. That is also not unusual for this time of year. The spread is very large in the price paid by the different destinations, due to quality and size selection. This also ensures that there is a wide spread in the grower price. In addition, there is currently little trade taking place on the property.

The DCA Indication Price for organic onions drops slightly in week 47 and the spread is very wide. That depends on the quality and size selection. The quotation is €42 to €50 per 100 kilos. The finer parties are at the bottom of that spectrum and the coarser parties pay around €50, with the caveat that few transactions are made.
