Can you tell us more about the company you work for?
"I am a manager at WH-Potato in Hengelo in Gelderland. It is an arable farming company specialized in seed potatoes and potatoes. The company has more than 200 hectares of seed potatoes and 150 hectares of consumption potatoes. We also grow approximately 70 hectares of beets and some wheat."

Are there specific crop protection challenges you encounter?
"We are currently facing specific challenges due to the increasingly limited availability of crop protection products. It is becoming increasingly complex to get the full picture for the entire season. In addition, we are experiencing an increase in new residents in rural areas, who often have a different view on crop protection than we do. This can sometimes cause some friction. Due to the reduced use of agents, we are forced to spray more often with less effective agents, which results in the sprayer being used more often in the crop. As a result, the environment thinks: here he comes. again with the spraying machine. We strive to actively engage in conversation by answering questions and sharing information with residents. Squirt Academy helped me improve these communication skills with residents."

How do you view crop protection in the future?
"The past growing year, with all the challenges surrounding phytophthora, is still fresh in my memory. That is why I think it is very important to continue using crop protection. I am convinced that breeding alone will not be enough. maintaining food security, crop protection remains indispensable Squirt Academy I have learned that, in addition to using chemical crop protection products, we should also pay more attention to biostimulants as a supplement. This allows chemical agents to be used more effectively and at the same time we can reduce the dosage."

What is the reason why you participated in the course? Squirt Academy?
"I heard positive stories about the course from former colleagues. I found the communication to residents in the area particularly interesting to learn more about. In addition, the technical knowledge was an important aspect. At the moment, the guidelines for spraying techniques are changing quickly and It is not easy to keep track of everything yourself. The course offers a good repetition and explanation of all techniques and caps. Through the practical lesson at Aeres you really get an idea of the different techniques and you gain practical experience."
