KWS Beet Seed Service: when reseeding is necessary

11 March 2024

Unforeseen weather conditions or simply an incorrect assessment can lead to situations where over-sowing of your sugar beet and/or Feedbeet plot is desirable. In this case, the Beet Seed Service from KWS is the service partner you can count on.

The service, which entitles you to a 50% discount on reseeding, is available for all KWS varieties and applies to any form of damage.

The benefits of the Beet Seed Service at a glance:

  • 50% discount on reseeding
  • Available for all KWS varieties
  • All forms of damage entitle you to a discount

They preceded you
In 2023, almost 2.500 growers within the Benelux registered for the Beet Seed Service for free. Together they secured around 6.500 plots – equivalent to almost 35.000 units containing 100.000 KWS seeds – with a 50% discount on KWS varieties in case resowing was desired. This way, sowing could be done with peace of mind.

Arable farmer Jarno Rietema from Oudeschip in Northeast Groningen also experienced that the service offers a useful and valuable guarantee when he had to decide to over-sow because of too low a plant number due to crust formation between sowing and emergence. He compares the Beet Seed Service with insurance. "Of course it is not full compensation, you still spend time and money preparing the plot again, but it does help that half of the seed is reimbursed by KWS. That lowers the mental threshold for over-sowing. Of course, overseeding is never the intention, but there is no shame in it either."
