There is less and less organic product left at the grower as the end of the storage season approaches. The trade in organic carrots is actually over, while almost all of the seed onions have also found a buyer. There have also been significant sales of organic table potatoes, although it is difficult to say how much is still being traded compared to other years.

Spring
Now that the weather is finally permitting, growers are mainly concerned with the new harvest season. Most of the organic seed onions were already there. In some cases, sowing was already done around the beginning of March when it just suited. The last plots will probably be sown this week. Very little has happened with table potatoes. According to an insider, the fact that potato planting starts late again could have an influence on next season's market. The wet spring also supports the current marketing season, although it remains difficult to estimate what the effect will be of the new harvest potatoes from the Mediterranean region.

The DCA indicative price for organic table potatoes remains the same again this week and averages around €66 per 100 kilos. Lower quality lots sell for an average of €60 per 100 kilos and popular varieties of very good quality start with a 7 as the first number.

Organic seed onions
The same applies to the organic onion market: onions from the new harvest from the Mediterranean region are replacing the older product. Given the relatively high organic onion prices here, the new harvest can compete well. On the other hand, it is now May and the available volumes in storage are still minimal. A buyer has almost most of it and the price is often known.

Due to a small number of transactions, it is difficult to arrive at an indicative price. The DCA Indication Price for organic yellow onions remains the same this week and amounts to €78 to €89 per 100 kilos. The fine size selection and lower quality are at the bottom of the range. The rough size sorting is at the top of the mentioned bandwidth.

The trade in organic carrots is over, so this market is no longer included in the weekly overview. In the autumn before the harvest starts again, the organic carrot market is resumed.
