It is coming together nicely at this stage of the carrot season. The demand is somewhat disappointing compared to other years, but that is largely compensated by limited supply. Although there was sufficient moisture and temperatures were not too extreme, the average yield in the early carrots is not really top. A positive point is that some is going to Senegal again. These are not very large volumes, but every little bit helps. If it continues like this for a few more weeks, the earlier varieties will be gone before the cuttings of the storage carrots come onto the market.

The rain has not had much effect on the market so far. At the beginning of the week, harvesting was possible, contrary to previous weather reports. Growers and processors have taken advantage of this. Most washers have a stock that they can live on for a while. The DCA carrot quotation is taking a small step back this week. B-carrots are coming in at €14 to €15 per 100 kilos and C-carrots at €14 to €16 per 100 kilos.
