Nicole van Doorn succeeds Wim van de Ree at Nedato

7 January 2025 - Redactie

The successor at Nedato of Wim van de Ree, who will retire later this year, is Nicole van Doorn. She was previously commercial director at catering wholesaler Hanos. Van Doorn started at the cooperative on January 6 and will take over full responsibility as general manager as of April of this year.

Van de Ree has been associated with Nedato for more than 24 years, in various roles, and will remain active in an advisory role at the cooperative until 1 October 2025 after the full transfer in April. Van Doorn (53) has extensive experience in the food, retail and food service sector. Before Hanos - where she was commercial director for almost three years - Van Doorn held the position of commercial director of Welkoop for two years. Before that, she was on the board of Boni and Scherpenhuizen, among others.

'A valuable addition to Nedato'
In a press release, Nedato states that Van Doorn 'with her experience in cooperative structures and her background in all links of the chain - from grower and production to purchasing, distribution and sales - is a valuable addition to Nedato'. She herself says in the press release: "It is an honour to take over from Wim van de Ree and to continue building the future together with the members, employees and partners of Nedato. My passion for food and my commercial experience and background help me to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the market. In the coming months I will focus on a smooth transfer and getting to know the people behind Nedato." In February, the members of Nedato can meet the new director personally during the general meeting.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Aart Jan Spoon says when asked that Nedato did not rush into selecting the new director. "A change of management is always drastic. Certainly in our case, where Wim van de Ree has been a stable factor in various positions over the past 24 years. We have done everything we could to ensure that the change of director proceeds smoothly. A careful process preceded the appointment, in which we worked with the Supervisory Board and an external agency. We took the developments in the potato sector into account in the selection procedure in the broad sense. From seed potato supply to buyers of our potatoes and changing laws and regulations to social developments. With Van Doorn's experience - from grower to retail - she is a valuable addition to Nedato and we have someone we can work with for years to come."
