The biggest driving force is Belgium. Despite the fact that our southern neighbor imported almost 37.500 tons less than in 2023, the country was by far the largest importer of Dutch potatoes with 181.949 tons. Just like in Belgium, you see a sharp drop in the import of Dutch potatoes throughout Europe compared to 2023 (-65.318 tons). In addition to Belgium, Germany, France and Sweden also import considerably less, causing exports to lag behind. The bright spot in Europe is the United Kingdom. 6.370 tons more were imported there than in 2023.

Growth in exports to African countries
With a total of 59.958 tonnes, Africa imported almost 10.000 tonnes more Dutch potatoes in 2024 than a year earlier. Senegal was the largest buyer on this continent with 30.950 tonnes, a good 6.000 tonnes more than in 2023. Ivory Coast and Mauritania also imported more Dutch potatoes with 9.526 and 6.799 tonnes respectively.

In North and South America, the presence of the Caribbean countries was strongly reflected. Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica were the largest importers. With a total of 32.895 tonnes, North and South America purchased a good 1.500 tonnes fewer Dutch potatoes than in 2023.
