Aviko and Averis have entered into a trade agreement for seed potatoes. This partnership will give Aviko direct access to Averis' resistant starch potato varieties. This will enable Aviko to better respond to the growing demand for high-quality, robust potato varieties.
Averis develops High Dry Matter (HDS) varieties, which are extremely suitable for the production of flakes and granules. These varieties not only offer better resistance to diseases, but also ensure a more stable cultivation and higher yields in the factory. The collaboration offers Aviko growers more certainty and a wider range of high-quality seed potatoes.
Dick Zelhorst, Chief Agro & Supply Chain Officer at Aviko, emphasises the importance of this collaboration: "Averis is a global specialist in the breeding of robust varieties with a broad spectrum of resistances. The new varieties are an important link in achieving further sustainability and securing the cultivation of high dry matter potatoes. At the same time, it strengthens the basis of Averis, which is in the interest of the development of the entire potato sector in the Netherlands". Marleen de Rond, Managing Director Agro & Strategy at Avebe, also sees major advantages: "With this collaboration, we are taking an important step in the implementation of our Route 2030 strategy. This will benefit our 2.000 affiliated growers." With the agreement, Aviko and Averis want to strengthen their position in the market.
