It is not wild on the carrot market. That is the general picture that now prevails. Demand is lagging behind and there is a lot of supply. Lesser batches are offered and the price is under some pressure.
As was the case in recent weeks, exports are only moderate. Belgium and Germany have enough carrots themselves and some are going to Eastern Europe, but it is not a storm.
We also still have carrots from the field, but they are starting to decline in quality. What is offered is often what growers want to get rid of and the highest price is not paid for it. That is now putting the carrot price under a bit more pressure.
The DCA carrot price has remained stable for the past three weeks in a row, although it was reported that prices were under pressure. This week, the price has dropped from €16,50 to €18,50 per 100 kilos to €16 to €18 per 100 kilos. It should be noted that there are currently relatively many batches on offer that are not of top quality. They sometimes also go for a little less. The price of C carrots remains stable, but there is little supply this season and therefore little trade in them.
