Belgian chip producer Roger & Roger is investing €60 million in the expansion and modernisation of its factory in Mouscron. With this investment, the company wants to respond to the growing demand for private label chips in Europe.
The factory in Mouscron is undergoing a major transformation. There will be additional production lines, a new office building, a research center and a fully automated warehouse. This warehouse will have space for 20.000 additional pallets, on top of the 60.000 that the company can currently store. In addition, new employees will be hired to support growth, or so the intention is.
Strong growth in private labels
Roger & Roger has grown into the largest European producer of private label chips, supplying customers in 35 countries. Demand for private label chips continues to rise, particularly in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. These are the company's three most important sales markets.
Roger & Roger produces 65.000 tons of chips annually in Mouscron, including both potato and corn varieties. About 40% of these are sold under their own brand Croky.
