The supply is as is known this season ample while the demand is more limited. Germany and Belgium are not at all on the market. The export to Eastern Europe in particular continues, but there is some friction with the new Egyptian carrot that is also offered there.

It seems that the carrots from the field are really over now. It has frozen and what is still there has lost a lot of quality. The condition of the carrots offered is currently labelled as 'normal', although there is mention of a dot here and there and a lot of tare.

The past two years it was a 'fight for carrots', as one insider puts it, and everything was bought. Now buyers are more selective and carrots with something wrong with them are harder to find a buyer for, even if they have a lower price tag.

The DCA Peen quotation remains stable, but with the remark that these prices are paid for good quality carrots. There is ample supply, which means there is limited interest in less good parties.
