The supply of carrots is large while the export demand does not increase any further. The downward trend of last week continues this week. The DCA Peen quotation has taken a clear step downwards over the past two weeks.
What has been bothering the trade all season is the lack of export. Belgium is not on the market and in Germany harvesting is still going on and Eastern Europe has also done more. In the meantime, the supply is large. The general impression is that farmers who initially wanted to wait for better prices now want to part with their carrots. The cautious expectation is that the early carrots may come on the market earlier than average this year, because they were sown on time and the weather conditions have been favourable so far.
This week there is also mention of organic carrots that are sold conventionally because the demand for them is not big enough. According to an insider, the organic carrots regularly have spots and spots. The quality of the conventional carrots is generally good. There are lesser batches and it is difficult to find a buyer for them. "You can choose", according to an insider.
The DCA carrot price has clearly dropped, from €15,00 to €17,00 per 100 kilos for B carrots to €12 to €15 per 100 kilos. C carrots remain more expensive, but they also take a step from €20,00 to €21,00 to €18,00 to €20,00.
