Especially the good quality carrots are in demand. This week there are also reports of quality problems and the price for such batches is lower, if they find a buyer at all. The supply is still ample. According to a trader there is more stress to sell than to buy.

The weeks before Easter were extremely busy. Traditionally, Easter brings extra activity in the carrot trade, but according to some, this time extra busy. Now, according to insiders, the trade has switched back to how it was before the run in connection with Easter.

Exports to Eastern Europe are continuing. Belgium was more on the market in the weeks before Easter. It remains to be seen whether that demand will continue. Southern Europe also asked for carrots due to the unfavourable weather conditions there, but according to an insider there is currently enough local supply there.

The DCA Carrot quotation remains the same this week at €14 to €15 per 100 kilos for B-carrots and €18 to €20 per 100 kilos for C-carrots (there is still little supply of the latter). With the remark that this is mainly paid for good quality carrots.
