There is still a large supply of good quality Dutch storage carrots. Thanks to a sharp price, these can compete with carrots from the new harvest from abroad that are starting to enter the market.
Exports are not wild, but are steadily increasing to Eastern Europe. Dutch carrots are getting competition from new carrots from Israel and Egypt that are starting to come onto the market. Storage carrots can still compete because of their sharp price. Some customers are already starting to switch. "And once you've switched, you can't go back to Dutch carrots from the fridge," says an insider.
The quality is generally good. Lesser carrots have largely been cleared away. It is reported that bad batches are sold for low box prices, but not many people are interested in that.
The DCA Peen quotation for B-carrots remains the same this week at €14 to €15 per 100 kilos. There is little trade in C-carrots and therefore no price has been compiled this week.
Read here is the explanation from DCA Market Intelligence on the new quotations.
