Dutch potato processor Aviko is acquiring Spanish company Eurofrits, the company announced today. With this acquisition, Aviko aims to strengthen its position on the Iberian Peninsula and expand its frozen product portfolio.
Aviko has been a minority shareholder in Eurofrits since 2009. This proposed acquisition will acquire the remaining 75% of the shares, giving Aviko full ownership of the company. The acquisition aligns with Aviko's parent company, Cosun, and its Unlock 30 strategy, which focuses on accelerating growth in valuable product categories within Europe.
Eurofrits produces snacks under its own brand for its domestic markets of Spain and Portugal and also supplies plant-based products that Aviko offers exclusively under the Aviko brand in the rest of Europe. The integration of Eurofrits allows Aviko to further strengthen its portfolio of snackables and plant-based products. Furthermore, through Eurofrits, Aviko consolidates its position in the Iberian frozen food market, a region where the company sees further growth opportunities.
