More onions were exported from the Netherlands. This is apparent from information from previous export weeks. Brazil is in the top 5 of the largest buyers of Dutch onions in week 10.
The export figure for seed onions in week 10 is 11.656 tons based on preliminary information. Subsequent information from previous export works shows that 561 more tons of onions were exported. This brings the seasonal number to 787.234 tons, compared to 814.116 tons last year. It means that an average of 21.867 tons of onions were exported per week. For the calendar year 2017, the counter stands at 180.784 tons. Last year that was 218.191 tons.
The list of largest buyers was led by Guinea in week 10, with 1.824 tonnes. So far this season, Guinea has purchased 42.639 tons of onions. The country is followed by Mauritania, with 1.272 tons. To date, 37.159 tons of onions have been exported to Mauritania this season.
Great Britain is in third place with 1.108 tons and has purchased a total of 96.059 tons of onions this season. Fourth place is occupied by Brazil, with 1.069 tons. That country has now purchased a total of 5.405 tons of onions. Malaysia closes the top 5 with 1.040 tonnes. The country has purchased 49.681 tons of onions this season.
