Tough times for yellow onions on the regional fairs

Falling prices have dominated the onion landscape for several weeks now. This week is no exception. The key question is: 'Where is the bottom?'

In Goes, the quotation for yellow seed onions was reduced for both coarse grades. This reduction was on average 30 euros for the 2,00% coarse sorting, resulting in a quotation of 3,00 to 4,00 euros per 100 kg. The decrease for the 60% coarse sorting amounted to an average of 1,50 euros. 4,00 to 7,00 euros per 100 kg were quoted.

Middenmeer:
The quotation of yellow seed onions in Middenmeer suffered an average drop of 1,00 euros for both coarse grades. The quotation for the 30% coarse grading therefore amounted to 3,00 to 4,50 euros and for the 60% coarse grading to 4,00 to 5,50 euros per 100 kg. The mood was expressed as 'Bland'.

Emmeloord:
Yellow seed onions also suffered a drop in prices this week. For both coarse grades, 30% to 60% and 60% coarse, this was one and a half euros. The quotation board showed 2,00 to 4,00 euros per 100 kg for the fine grading and 3,50 to 5,50 euros per 100 kg for the coarse grading.

The mood for red onions went from 'Pricey' to 'Quiet' this week. The quotation remained unchanged at 16,00 to 18,00 euros per 100 kg for the 30% to 60% coarse grading and 17,00 to 21,00 euros per 100 kg for the 60% coarse grading.

For organic onions, the quotation rose by an average of 1,00 euros to 47,00 euros per 100 kg for both coarse grades in a calm market.
