Although there are more free onions in stock than last season, the level is at the five-year average. This is apparent from the third stock inventory for onions, which VTA carried out among its members in the first week of April.
The participants delivered about 70 percent of the onions. That is about the same level as last season. At that time, 68 percent of the onions had been delivered. In absolute tons, there is 10 percent less stock among VTA members than last season. This is more than 12,5 percent lower than the five-year average.
About 17 percent of the stock has been sold (83 percent is still available). Last season, 69 percent of the stock was still available. On the basis of absolute tons, the free stock is 9,5 percent higher than last year. That's about the level of the five-year average.
Difference between red and yellow onions
Divided into red and yellow onions, VTA sees some difference. For the participants with yellow onions, 66 percent of the yield had already been delivered, while 79 percent of the yield of the red seed onions has already been delivered. Last year, these percentages were 62 percent and 90 percent respectively.
The free stock for yellow onions is 30 percent. This was 26 percent of the total revenue last year. The free stock for red onions is 17 percent, compared to 4 percent last year.
