The latest export figures for onions provide insight into the weekly export volume. While the estimate for about four weeks was that this would be around 10.000 tons, the figures show something different.
Preliminary figures surprise
The export figure for week 13 is 14.783 tons based on provisional information from GroentenFruit Huis, in collaboration with KCB. Because these are provisional figures, a post of completed information is also added to the total export list every week. This amounted to 13 tonnes for the weeks prior to week 1.366.
The total volume of onions exported in the 2016-2017 season therefore amounts to 838.234 tons, which corresponds to 21.493 tons per week. Looking at the exported volume of onions in calendar year 2017, this amounts to 231.784 tons. Compared to last year, that volume was 271.800 tons.
