So far, more than 1.800 tons of onions have been sent to Poland, considerably less than last year. Poland had a bountiful onion harvest this year and was more of a seller than a buyer.
Export onions
In week 16, according to a provisional statement, 12.702 tons of onions were exported. The volume of information received was considerable at 5.118 tons. The total export figure for the 2016-2017 season now stands at 881.497 tonnes, which is an average of 20.988 tonnes per week. For calendar year 2017, the counter stands at 275.048 tons.
Top 5
The largest buyer in week 16 was Brazil with 2.564 tons, increasing the total this season to 11.837 tons. Great Britain is in second place with 1.798 tonnes, taking the season's total to 112.689 tonnes.
Guinea, Malaysia and Poland take third, fourth and fifth places respectively with 1.114 tonnes, 606 tonnes and 553 tonnes. The total purchase from the countries mentioned is 48.298 tons, 57.411 tons and 1.809 tons.
