The Austrian market
There is slightly more sales on the Austrian onion market, which has a positive effect on the mood. Sales are not only going well in our own country, more movement can also be observed on the export market.

Slightly more demand makes the Austrian onion market firmer

All in all, this provides some relaxation on the Austrian onion market. On average, the price range for sorted onions, delivered loose in boxes, ex-plant from the grower is between 9 and 13 euros per 100 kilos.

Germany
The new onions from New Zealand are delivered free of charge to German sorting companies for approximately 65 euros per 100 kilos. Last year that price level was still around 70 euros per 100 kilos. In 2015 this was also 65 euros per 100 kilos and in 2014 it was slightly lower, at 63 euros per 100 kilos.

New harvest is averagely priced

Based on the latest export figures for New Zealand onions, more than 19 tons of onions were exported to Germany up to and including week 11.500 (mid-May). In addition, part of New Zealand's onion exports, which are shipped to the Belgian and Dutch ports, will also go to German sorting companies.
