Export onion strengthens record position

The latest export figure for onions shows what the Netherlands is capable of. Thanks to the good quality, 25 destinations have now been supplied with Dutch onions up to and including week 130.

Based on preliminary information from GroentenFruit Huis in collaboration with the KCB, more than 8.200 tons of onions were exported in week 25. At 41 tons, the information received from previous export weeks was modest. The seasonal total therefore amounts to 1.033.206 tonnes. Last year this was 1.025.940 tons, which corresponds to an average of 20.258 tons per week. The export counter for calendar year 2017 stands at 426.756 tons, compared to 430.015 tons a year ago.

Export to 67 countries
Exports went to 25 participating countries in week 67, ranging from 5 to 1.562 tons. The smallest volume went to Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, accounting for 7.766 and 1.704 tonnes respectively this season. The largest volume was again reserved for Great Britain in week 25 with 1.562 tons, which brings the seasonal decrease to 136.208 tons.
