Onion exports in week 26 of 2017 are comparable to those of the previous week. The seasonal total thus rises to first place in a series of seasons in which so many onions have never been exported before.
In week 26, based on preliminary information, 8.724 tons of onions were exported. Subsequent information shows that the export figure will be increased by 518 tons of onions. This brings the seasonal total to 1.042.450 tonnes. That was 1.034.463 tons last season.
Export just below last year
Exports in 2017 currently stand at 436.000 tons, compared to 438.538 tons last year. Ivory Coast was the largest buyer of Dutch onions in week 26, with a volume of 1.181 tons. This means that the country is good for purchasing 86.384 tons of onions this season.
Great Britain follows with 1.088 tons, bringing the season's total to 137.681 tons. Sierra Leone accounted for 791 tons of onions and Mauritania 713 tons.
