The holiday season has slowed down the pace of announcing the export figures for onions, but now the first figures are finally known. Which customer comes first? And how big is that volume?
Based on provisional figures, 2017 tons of onions were exported in the first export week of the 2018-29 season (week 11.336). Last season, 13.598 tons of onions were exported in the same week.
Ivory Coast at the top
The volume increased mainly because Ivory Coast, among others, purchased 1.821 tons of onions. Great Britain also purchased a large portion, namely 1.365 tons. Furthermore, Mauritania, Guinea and Panama accounted for 748 tonnes, 728 tonnes and 698 tonnes respectively.
A total of 63 countries were served with Dutch onions in week 29, of which Singapore was in last place with 'only' 5 tons.
