The export figures for the third export week of this season are now available. As expected, it shows the imminent opening of the border of Senegal.
Based on provisional figures, 31 tons of onions were exported in week 18.414. The volume of subsequent information from the weeks prior to week 31 amounts to 444 tons. This brings the seasonal total to 44.469 tonnes, compared to 65.078 tonnes last year.
It should be noted that the 2016/2017 season already started in week 27 (2 weeks earlier than the 2017/2018 season). For calendar year 2017, the export counter stands at 511.642 tons, compared to 503.616 tons a year earlier.
The biggest customers
The largest buyer in week 31 was Senegal with 6.721 tonnes, followed by Ivory Coast with 1.987 tonnes, Mauritania with 1.188 tonnes, Guinea with 974 tonnes and Great Britain with 783 tonnes.
