Onion export busy catching up

The fantastic export figures for onions make it clear that the sales of onions should not be looked too gloomily. Do the latest figures provide a huge boost to the export market?

Week 32 has a provisional export figure of 34.053 tons of onions. That number is 66% higher than in week 31. Based on subsequent information from previous export weeks, the total export figure is increased by 3.182 tons.

After 4 weeks of export, the counter stands at 81.705 tons. Last year, with a start 2 weeks earlier, that level was 84.955 tons. For calendar year 2017, the counter stands at 548.878 tons, compared to 523.493 tons a year earlier.

The biggest customers
The largest buyer of Dutch onions in week 32 was Senegal with 15.025 tons, now good for 23.319 tons this season. Ivory Coast took second place with 6.045 tons.

Mauritania is in 3rd place with 2.674 tonnes, followed by Guinea in 4th place with 1.516 tonnes. Great Britain takes fifth place with 1.307 tons.The export figures of onions over the years.
