On Wednesday, September 27, the Middenmeer stock exchange noted the first price for carrots. As expected, the listing starts at a low level. That is not the lowest start. In 2014, the carrot quotation started even lower.
The first prize for C/D carrot Class I 200 grams upwards puts Beurs Middenmeer at €4 to €5,50 per 100 kilos. With this, the fair season for carrots starts at €1 to €2 per 100 kilos lower than last year. Then in week 40 the first quotation was made. With the price, the mood indicator is faintly mentioned.
The first quotation for B/C carrots followed last season in week 45 with a price level of €6 to €8 per 100 kilos. The start of the season in 2015 was of a completely different order. Then €19 per 100 kilos was quoted.
Not the lowest start
The low start of the season of 2017-2018 is not the lowest start quotation in Middenmeer. In 2014, a price level of €3,50 was recorded. Even then, stagnant sales were the problem. On top of that there were quality problems.
No listing yet Emmeloord
Beurs Emmeloord has not yet announced a quotation for carrots. Last year it started in the same week as Middenmeer. At that time, €8 to €9 per 100 kilos was noted for B carrot. Shell teats were also traded at this level. According to Maas van den Heuvel, discussion leader at the LNCN, there is no seed quotation for this week either. Maybe it will start next week.
The listing of C/D Peen Class I will start at a low level this year in Middenmeer.
