Onion export achieves great performance

The export figure for onions can also be called good in week 44. However, that seems to be at odds with the mood among growers, who want to get down to business easily due to a lack of confidence.

Based on provisional figures, approximately 44 tons of onions were exported in week 24.533. Although this is below the weekly average of this season (26.091 tons), it is certainly not bad. Based on subsequent information from previous export weeks, the export figure has grown by 4.963 tons, bringing the season total to 417.464 tons.

Senegal's unchecked exports now exceed 100.000 tons

Who was the biggest customer?
Senegal was again the largest buyer of Dutch onions in week 44, with 6.531 tons. Senegal has already purchased 105.007 tons of onions and the quota counter stands at 63%, which means that 40 tons of onions have been exported since week 8.435. Compared to the same period last year (week 29 to week 44), Senegal is 19.470 tonnes (+23%) ahead and 36.486 tonnes (+53%) ahead of 2015.

Ivory Coast, Mali, Great Britain and Malaysia are the countries that take places 2 to 5 respectively. The countries mentioned jointly accounted for 10.599 tons.

Later start
Taking into account a later start of 2017 weeks, the 2018/2 season is 5.432 tonnes ahead (417.464 tonnes against 412.032 tonnes), thus achieving a major performance.Onion exports over the years up to and including week 44.
