More and more weeks have realized more than 30.000 tons of onion export per week in the first half of this marketing season. The peak week is not far from the 40.000 tons.
Once again, the onion export figures appeal to the imagination. The provisional figures for week 50 amount to 30.205 tons. Due to subsequent information from previous weeks, the export figure is further increased (this week by 5.637 tons). Partly because of this, the top week is above 39.000 tons (week 46).
Africa and Southeast Asia
African buyers and countries in Southeast Asia were the leaders in week 50. Senegal led the way with a purchase of 7.362 tons. The total purchase by Senegal this season amounts to 137.833 tons. Ivory Coast purchased 4.555 tons of onions, followed by the Philippines with 3.908 tons.
The onions went to 50 destinations in week 86, with Myanmar coming in at the bottom with 10 kilos. Based on current data, total onion exports in calendar year 2017 amount to 1.084.764 tons, 71.202 tons (+7%) more than last year. 10 weeks have now been achieved with an export of more than 30.000 tons, of which 4 with more than 35.000 tons.The export figures of onions up to and including week 50 over the years.
