The latest export figures for 2017 (based on provisional figures) provide a generous lead over all previous seasons. The result can therefore be placed in the prize cabinet.
The provisional export result for the first half of the 2017/2018 season is 667.837 tons, achieved in 24 weeks. The top week (week 46) shows more than 39.000 tons and the last week is week 29 with 12.684 tons.
The volume in week 52 stands at a provisional result of 13.764 tons. Of the 24 weeks, 11 were with more than 30.000 tons, of which 4 weeks were with more than 35.000 tons. For calendar year 2017, the counter stands at 1.135.010 tons, compared to 1.044.988 tons in 2016. That means an increase of 8,6%.
The top buyers
In the list of customers, Great Britain was an important customer (3rd place). The land was good for 1.559 tons, which takes the season's total to 49.611 tons (the weekly average is more than 2.050 tons per week). However, the leading role in week 52 was reserved for Mauritania with 1.928 tonnes. This season's result has grown to a decrease of 32.984 tons.
Senegal took second place with 1.729 tons and that country has purchased more than 150.000 tons of onions until the turn of the year, compared to approximately 133.000 tons last season. Malaysia produced 1.251 tons of onions and purchased more than 35.000 tons of onions this season.The export figures of onions up to and including week 52 (over the years).
