Onion export switches gears back

The onion export of the second week of 2018 and the addition to the previously published figures mean that the total figure is at a greater distance from last season. What does the export figure come to, and where did our onions go?

The export figure for week 2 is 23.779 tonnes based on provisional information. Changes to previously published figures show that these figures have been adjusted upwards by 2.130 tonnes. This brings the season total to 721.691 tons, which means a weekly volume of 27.411 tons.

Where did the onions go?
The largest volume went to Senegal in week 2 (6.524 tons), bringing Senegal's total purchase for this season to 163.129 tons. Malaysia claims second place with 3.034 tons, making it good for 40.447 tons this season.

Gambia takes third place with 1.765 tons and has purchased 16.615 tons of Dutch onions this season. Great Britain joins the ranks with countries that have purchased more than 1.000 tons (1.560 tons).

Total exports
In week 2, 79 countries were served with Dutch onions. The total export figure for the 2017/2018 season stands at 721.691 tonnes, compared to 645.278 tonnes last season. This means a lead of approximately 12%.The export figures of onions over the years (up to and including week 2).
