With last year in mind, a large part of the trade chooses to keep small stocks. The trade feels a lot friendlier than a few weeks ago and is now also more actively looking for new parties. The Emmeloord stock exchange recorded a positive mood this week. This indicates that supply is smaller or equal to demand.

Coarse onions
The mood for large onions in particular is becoming friendlier. Lots have been traded for €12. It should be noted that these are onions with Indonesia as the final destination, and all necessary paperwork has been completed to be allowed to deliver to the country. This adds value to the price. It is true that €10 is currently more easily paid for a coarse batch (of which the quality is good), compared to last week.

All 3 regional stock exchanges showed a plus this week in the quotation for large onions. Emmeloord and Goes both recorded a price range of €7 to €10,50 for the large onions, while Middenmeer recorded €6 to €9.

(Text continues below the chart)The listing for 60% coarse shows an increase on the Emmeloord stock exchange.

Medium sorting
The quotation for 30% to 60% large onions remained unchanged this week at Goes and Middenmeer. Emmeloord recorded a significant plus of €0,75. This plus probably has to do with the fact that Indonesia is on the market. Onions of a similar size are also exported to Africa, but at lower prices.

No onions are exported to Mali and Senegal because the borders are closed. Dutch onions are imported in small quantities in the surrounding countries. However, the volumes cannot be compared with a few months ago.

The bale prices this week are comparable to previous weeks.
