The most recent estimate of onion stocks in Germany may show a different picture than expected. How do these figures compare to previous years?
The stock of German onions, which was still in storage around the reference date of February 15, is at a considerably lower level than in the past year. The stock amounts to 72.398 tons, a decrease of 12,6%.

In 2017 there was a plus of 19.869 tons (+33,7%). The current onion stock is 2011 tons below average (compared to the years 2017 to 952). The estimated stock contains more than 760 tons of red onions, compared to 2.016 tons last year. With the exception of the Neue Bundesländer, all other growing regions have lower onion stocks.

Looking at the quantities and percentages delivered this season, the following picture emerges. The percentage that has been delivered, compared to the stock measured on October 1, 2017, is 69%. That is significantly more than the 64% of last season. The multi-year average from the 2011/2012 to 2016/2017 season is 66%.
