Do export figures predict little good?

The export figure of week 6 sheds a different light on onion sales. What impact will the disappearance of Senegal have, and what will be the consequence of the lack of new customers?

The export figure for week 6 (at 14.884 tonnes) feels like a cold shower, especially after weeks with export figures above 30.000 tonnes. The cause is the annual transition from Senegal to other markets.

Who pulled the export cart?
Mauritania took the export lead in week 6 (1.490 tons), causing the volume taken up to rise to 42.204 tons. Brazil took second place with a weekly decrease of 1.444 tons. The country is good for 6.013 tons this season. Great Britain is in third place with 1.251 tons, increasing the British purchase this season to 59.717 tons.

The export counter for this season stands at 787.985 tons, which means an average of 26.266 tons per week. In calendar year 2018, 119.179 tons were exported, compared to 129.715 tons last year (-8%). In week 6, 77 countries were supplied with Dutch onions.The export figures of onions up to and including week 6 (over the years).
