Africa was back on the scene in week 11, in terms of onion purchases. What impact does this have on the Dutch export result?
The most recent export figures for onions (week 11) are 12.666 tons based on preliminary information. Out information provided shows that 3.458 tons more were exported than previously assumed. Taken together, this brings the total export figure to 877.351 tonnes. It means a weekly average of 25.067 tons.
The biggest customers
Mauritania purchased the most onions in week 11. A total of 1.575 tons of onions went to this African country, bringing the season's total to more than 50.000 tons. Guinea was the third largest customer with 1.365 tons. The country accounts for a seasonal total of 46.947 tonnes. Ivory Coast completed the top 5 (730 tons) and lifted the total to 92.023 tons.
Places 2 and 4 are up for grabs Britain (1.562 tonnes and a seasonal total of 71.023 tonnes) and Malaysia (1.072 tonnes and a seasonal total of 56.037 tonnes). A total of 75 countries were supplied with Dutch onions. In calendar year 2018, 208.545 tons of onions have been exported so far, compared to 203.673 tons in 2017.The export figures of onions up to and including week 11 (over the years).
