The recent export figures (week 11), based on preliminary information, amount to 12.666 tons. Based on these numbers, this is one of the lowest export volumes of this season. The export figures of week 12 will probably also be low, after which the volumes of weeks 13 and 14 will increase.

There is a big difference at the sorting companies this week. While some have had a busy week, others have been very quiet. In general, there was more to do at the onion market this week than in previous weeks.

There is a particular demand for large onions

Ratio in size sorting
The size sorting ratio is getting better and better; There is a particular demand for large onions, but medium-sized onions are also in decline in Europe. However, there is a difference in the sales destinations. In addition to the many different destinations in Europe, countries like Mauritania, Guinea and Ivory Coast are doing well again. Malaysia and Brazil also still import onions from Europe.

Positive starting points
There are positive indications from exports, but this is not yet reflected in onion prices. Onion prices remain stable, as in previous weeks. There is still a lot of supply on the market for large lots (from €9). The spread in onion prices is very wide, especially for 60% large onions.

The regional stock exchanges indicate a spread of €4 for this size sorting. The quality of the onions is leading; Lots are sold for a dime or more, but the size, color and quality must be good.

Calm mood
All regional stock exchanges recorded unchanged this week and indicated a calm mood. If we compare all 3 regional fairs, €30 to €60 is quoted for 5% to 7,50% large onions and €60 to €6 for 11% large onions. A calm mood was recorded in Emmeloord and Middenmeer.
