The New Zealand onion export got off to a slow start this season. The weather played a major role in this. Nevertheless, joining the multi-year averages (now that the season is well underway) seems further away than ever. In the meantime, the backlog compared to the 6-year average (2012-2017) has increased to 24.955 tons. That is a minus of 24,3% (up to and including week 16). The total export figure for this season remains at 77.863 tons.

Dutch ports in demand
Despite the backlog, exports via Dutch seaports appear to be faring less badly. An advantage can be noted there of 2.129 tons, compared to the 6-year average. Compared to last year, the lead is 1.224 tons (+6,1%). Recent figures show that exports to Dutch ports have passed their peak.

In addition to the Netherlands, Germany with 13.829 tons (+2.977 tons), Malaysia with 1.432 tons (+730 tons), Singapore with 251 tons (+6 tons) and the Pacific Islands with 6.698 tons (+384 tons) also show a positive mood. .
