Does week 15 offer hope after the downer week 14?

The export figures for onions still show record sales. Exports in week 15 are also ahead, compared to the same week in 2017. Which countries contributed to the provisional result of week 15?

Preliminary information shows this the onion export figures for week 15 it amounts to 16.947 tons. As expected, Brazil was the animator of the export engine. More than 15 tons of onions were shipped to South America in week 2.700, bringing the seasonal purchase to 16.606 tons.

Great Britain is number 2.522 with a decrease of 2 tons. The country currently has a decrease of 81.595 tons, 25.790 tons less than last year (-24%). Guinea and Mauritania follow with 1.992 tons and 1.388 tons respectively.

Still a record
The week 15 decrease puts the season total at 951.454 tons, compared to 872.605 tons last season. The weekly average is 24.396 tons. Subsequent information has increased the export figure by 3.573 tons (concerns period weeks 9 to 14). As a result, there is still a record on paper, even if it is overall feeling quite negative about sales in week 18. For calendar year 2018, the export total is 282.648 tons, compared to 266.155 tons in 2017.The export figures of onions up to and including week 15 (over the years).
