The undertone in the market was more positive this week than in the past weeks. This is mainly because Ivory Coast 1 boat of onions has been taken away. The Islamic holidays could also provide additional sales to Africa.

For the onions of lesser quality Poland now well on the market. The onions intended for peeling are currently in high demand. In addition, the bale price for medium sorting in Poland has increased.

It is more difficult for onions of lower quality

Lots of offer
There is currently a lot of supply in the market. In addition, the general picture is that many onions are wearing out quickly at the moment. With the warm weather approaching, many growers are choosing not to leave the onions lying around any longer. This has ensured that the good onions are also sold more quickly.

It becomes more difficult for onions that are of lower quality. For the conventional market, people only seem to be looking for good quality onions. The parties that are of lower quality seem to be condemned to the industrial market.

Onion prices seem to be stabilizing
Because there is a lot of supply, onion prices have taken a step back in the past 3 weeks. For good and coarse onions, the range is between €6 and €8. For the time being, the market appears to be stabilizing between this price level. Stock market prices show a similar picture. In Emmeloord, the 60% upward price is €5 to €7,50. In Middenmeer and Goes the price for this size sorting is €6 to €8.

When all regional exchanges are compared, the 30% to 60% large onions are quoted at €4 to €6. The regional stock exchanges in Emmeloord and Middenmeer are also showing a weak mood this week, which means that supply is greater than demand.

Bale prices
De bale prices are comparable to those of last week. For some destinations, the bale prices for the medium sorting have increased. However, this does not apply to every destination the spread therefore remains large.
