The first onion sets have now been brought in. Clear differences are visible between the early and late onion sets, in terms of size and yields.
The winter onion sets, which now have been brought in, are generally coarse and have managed to achieve good yields. However, the early spring onion sets vary greatly in size and yield. The late spring onion sets will most likely turn out a bit nicer.
In addition, the spring onion sets gradually transition into the winter onion sets. It is also striking that the plots are there varies nationally to get up. Major differences in the plots are already visible just a few kilometers away.
Onion onions were listed for the first time this season at the stock exchange in Goes this week (week 27). The onion onions (quoted ex field) had a price range of €17 to €19.
No listings on regional stock exchanges
For the conventional market, quotations for the 2017 growing season have stopped. The Emmeloord stock exchange was the only regional stock exchange to list last week, but they also no longer listed this week. This growing season, weeks 15, 16 and 18 were the best weeks to sell seed onions, according to the Emmeloord stock exchange. During these weeks the quotation was €7,50 to €12,50 for the 60% large onions.
It is also striking that demand from industry in Poland is continuing well. It is expected that the industrial market in Poland will still need Dutch onions for at least the next month.
The listing of the Emmeloord stock exchange shows another decline.
