The result of Pool C for the size 60 millimeters downwards is €4,20 per 100 kilos. The price for 60 millimeters upwards is more than double that, at €9,44 per 100 kilos.

The prices mentioned are net prices and do not include compensation for Global Gap. This compensation amounts to €50 per hectare, with a maximum of €300 per lot. The price for fine onions has fallen considerably compared to Pool A and Pool B, while the price for large onions has shown a nice plus.

Previous pools
Pools A and B had previously been closed. Pool B ran from January 1 to mid-March. €5,32 was paid for the fine onions, while €60 was paid for the 8,60 millimeter upwards. In Pool A (week 42 to week 52), €6,67 was paid for the fine onions, while the 60 millimeter upwards amounted to €8,88. The best result for the fine onions was achieved in Pool A, after which the price fell further.

Director Leon van Meir is disappointed with the prices paid out. In the southwest of the country, where many of Van Meir's growers are located, yields and size were disappointing. This while there was hardly any demand for fine onions. Van Meir sees that a clear trend has emerged towards larger sizes.
