Onion export in slow motion to the finish

The export figures of onions show that the season is coming to an end. It is also clear from the figures that the export goes to the finish in slow motion.

The provisional export figure for week 25 is 9.251 tonnes, but subsequent information will undoubtedly increase this figure. Subsequent information from the export weeks prior to week 25 shows that total export figure has been increased by 5.162 tons.

The export count for this season therefore amounts to 1.130.378 tons, which puts it head and shoulders above the rest (compared to previous years). Up to and including week 25, an average of 23.068 tons of onions were exported per week. This does not include deliveries of field crops.

Who took the most?
The export cart was pulled by Great Britain in week 25 (1.721 tons). The British already purchased 2017 tons of onions from the Netherlands in the 2018/110.293 season. Guinea imported 1.317 tons of Dutch onions in the same week, giving the country 65.925 tons this season.

Third place goes to France (786 tons), followed by Mauritania (763 tons) and Germany (624 tons). The export figure for calendar year 2018 stands at 461.572 tonnes, compared to 434.924 tonnes in 2017.The export figures up to and including week 25, where it is striking that 2018 is comfortably in the lead.
