New export season starts normally

The export results of the first 3 weeks of the 2018/2019 season are now available. Week 27 is the start week for the new season, while exports started in week 29 last year.

The export results will be weekly published by GroentenFruit Huis and the Quality Control Agency. The kick-off for the 2018/2019 season begins in week 27. In week 27, based on preliminary information, 6.601 tons were exported, in week 28 the counter reached 11.159 tons and week 29 recorded a total of 15.086 tons. This brings the export total to 32.847 tons.

Largest customers
Great Britain was the largest buyer of Dutch onions in week 27 (1.174 tons), but Ivory Coast took over that role in week 28 (2.912 tons). France was in second place in week 28, with a decrease of 1.061 tonnes. If we compare that volume with previous decreases in the second week of the season, the results for this season are considerably higher. It was in week 28 Guinea the third largest customer (947 tons).

If we look at the export figures for week 29, Ivory Coast is at the top with a purchase of 3.329 tons of Dutch onions. Second place in week 29 goes to Great Britain (2.121 tons) and Guinea also closes the top 3 in this week (1.529 tons).

For calendar year 2018, exports (with the latest known data) amount to 512.063 tons, while in 2017 this was still 479.857 tons. The export figure of the season 2017/2018 is at a record high with 1.148.022 tons and will not be equaled this season.An overview of the export figures up to and including week 29 (over the years).
