Which African country is pulling the export cart?

It is again the Africans who are responsible for the export volume of onions from week 33. However, it is not Senegal that is leading the way. Which African country is pulling the export cart?

Preliminary export figures show that more than 33 tons were exported in week 15.400, to 66 different countries. Senegal took the lead in week 32, but had to settle for fifth place in week 33. First place goes to Ivory Coast, with a purchase of 3.429 tons of Dutch onions. The country has already purchased 23.597 tons (20% of the total exported volume) this season.

The second and third places belong to Mauritania and Guinea, with 1.354 and 1.321 tonnes respectively. Great Britain follows in fourth place with 1.158 tons of Dutch onions. Based on the latest figures, Senegal purchases 1.028 tons. In addition, a total of 11.898 tons of onions are now sent to Senegal en route.

What does the season total do?
The season total to date is 115.141 tonnes, which means an average of 16.448 tonnes per week. When these export figures were published, there was again delayed export information for weeks 27 to 32. This amounts to 1.614 tonnes.

The export result for this calendar year amounts to 594.357 tons. This was 2017 tons in 577.262 and 2016 tons in 548.533. In 2015, the export result during this period amounted to 545.860 tons.Onion exports up to and including week 33 (an overview over the years).
