The export figures of onions are worth framing. It almost seems that the pace is so high that the exporters have not had enough time to provide all the data on time. What effect has that had?
From the preliminary export information the postal information appears to be considerable, as a result of which the previously published figures have been significantly adjusted upwards. In total, the postal information comes to 7.320 tons. Week 31 to week 33 had the highest adjustments: 1.276 tons, 2.913 tons and 3.069 tons respectively.
For week 34, an export of 19.647 tons is provisionally assumed. Together with the subsequent information, the counter for the 2018/2019 season now stands at approximately 142.109 tons, which is an average of 17.763 tons per week. In calendar year 2018, 34 tons of Dutch onions were exported (up to and including week 621.325), compared to 603.127 tons in 2017. In 2016 the total up to and including week 34 was 573.374 tons and in 2015 this was 572.952 tons.
The biggest customers?
Ivory Coast, Great Britain, Mali and Guinea were mainly responsible for the export result of week 34. These countries purchased 5.183 tons, 1.559 tons, 1.227 tons and 1.166 tons of Dutch onions respectively. Senegal was in eleventh place with 551 tons.
