The border with Senegal became Wednesday 29 August opened. Exporters responded immediately and exported 7.127 tons of Dutch onions to the country (week 35). With this result, Senegal is the leader in that week when it comes to buyers of Dutch onions.

Great Britain comes in second. In week 35 this country took 2.376 tons Dutch onions off. The top 3 is completed by Ivory Coast, because that country purchased 2.108 tons of Dutch onions.

How is this season going?
The above 3 destinations also form the top 3 when it comes to the import volume of this growing season. Ivory Coast is number 1 and has already purchased 30.889 tons of Dutch onions this season. Second place goes to Great Britain (20.795 tons) and Senegal completes the top 3 (19.577 tons).

This season (up to and including week 35) there are a total of 169.544 tons of onions, from 102 different countries. However, this is 8% less than in the same period last year. This may be due, among other things, to the fact that sales destinations have to get used to the high bale prices, so they first draw up their own stocks.
