The provisional export figures for week 36 are good again, just like in the week before.
Weeks 32 and 35 were also good for an export volume of more than 25.000 tons, causing the Dutch onion stock to shrink rapidly. The expectation is that the national onion yield amounts to 700.000 to 900.000 tons of onions.
By mid-October, 33% will have been exported
A total of 36 tons of Dutch onions have already been exported this season (up to and including week 195.466). That is 5,5% less than in the same period last year. However, it is 4,3% more than in the 2016 growing season. It is expected that the figures will be lower in weeks 38 and 39, because the destinations have to get used to the higher bale prices.
There are 40 boats planned for Africa for next week (week 2). Export volumes are currently going up and down. If we assume an average export of 15.000 tons in the coming weeks, then 33% (of the national yield) will have already been exported by mid-October.
Indonesia
In week 36, Indonesia joins the top 3 largest buyers of Dutch onions. They purchased 1.877 tons of onions. Ivory Coast (3.953 tons) and Senegal (6.921 tons) are the 36 largest buyers in week 2.
