The provisional export figure for week 39 exceeds 25.000 tons, which is once again a big bite from the Dutch onion stock is. This week, processors are a little less active in the market. However, exports always go in waves. Looking at the average figures for this season, 21.000 tons are exported per week.

Destinations from Eastern Europe also enter the onion market early in the season. There is demand for both industry and the mainstream market. However, it is difficult to obtain onions for these destinations. This is because the prices they are willing/able to pay do not correspond to the current prices on the Dutch market. The onions delivered to Eastern Europe are therefore mainly consignments with a story.

Germination test
This is a season where quality must be closely monitored. To date, problems with nucleation have not occurred in large numbers. Since the conditions for spraying anti-germination agents have not been good this year, the processors recommend setting up a germination test. The processors also see that there are more problems with fusarium this year.

Stock exchange quotations
The stock exchange prices in Middenmeer and Emmeloord are stabilizing. Both stock exchanges are trading unchanged compared to last week. A change did take place in Goes. They quote €20 to €26 for the finest grading and €30 to €60 for the 26% to 32% coarse onions.

Since there are hardly any large parties in the south-west of the country, there is no upward trend of 60% in Goes.
