Onion stock in Germany down 35 percent

There are considerably fewer onions in Europe this year. On October 1, the onion stock in Germany was surveyed and these figures also show a significant decrease.

Germany has a number of important growing areas. A decrease in stock is visible in all areas. All added up, the total stock figure this year is 151.000 tons. Last year the figure was 231.000 tonnes. The onion stock has therefore fallen by 35%. 

The stock of yellow onions has fallen the most (compared to red onions). With 139.701 tons of yellow onions, the stock has fallen by 36% compared to last year. The stock for red onions amounts to 11.299 tons, which is a decrease of 15%.
